Uwajima Castle

Uwajima Castle is one of the 12 existing castle towers that once boasted the castle town of Date 100,000 goku.

Uwajima Castle was built in 1601 on a hill 80 meters above sea level by Todo Takatora, a famous castle builder.

The castle tower was extensively renovated around 1666 by Munetoshi, the second lord of the Date clan, to its present form.
The castle tower is one of the 12 most valuable surviving castle towers and is designated as a national important cultural property.
